Who this course is designed for

This course is built specifically for students making the transition from Algebra 1 into Geometry. Whether your student struggled this year or simply wants to start strong, this bridge course gives them exactly what they need before school starts.

✓  Rising 9th graders

Students who just completed Algebra 1 and are heading into Geometry next year. Build confidence before the first day of school.

✓  Rising 8th graders

Advanced students taking Algebra 1 early who want a strong Geometry foundation heading into an accelerated track.

✓  Students who struggled in Algebra 1

If Algebra 1 was tough, this course fills the gaps before they become bigger problems in Geometry.

✓  Students who want to get ahead

Even strong Algebra 1 students benefit from a Geometry preview — starting the year already familiar with key concepts.

What your student will learn

Course curriculum

This course is split into two parts. The first half reviews the most important Algebra 1 concepts students need to carry into Geometry. The second half introduces the foundational Geometry topics they'll encounter in their first weeks of school — so they start the year already familiar, not behind.

1

Solving equations & simplifying radicals Algebra

Refreshing equation-solving skills and building fluency with radicals — both are essential tools students reach for constantly in Geometry, especially once the Pythagorean theorem arrives.

2

Writing linear equations & graphing lines Algebra

Slope-intercept and point-slope form, graphing from equations and two points — the Algebra 1 line work that connects directly to Geometry's coordinate plane problems.

3

Intro to Geometry — points, planes, lines, midpoint & distance Geometry

Learning the language of Geometry — how points, lines, and planes relate — then putting it to work with the midpoint and distance formulas on the coordinate plane.

4

Segment addition, angle addition & intro to proofs Geometry

Applying segment and angle addition postulates, then writing the first formal proofs of the course — the logical reasoning skill that defines Geometry from here on out.

Frequently asked questions

A laptop, tablet, or desktop computer with a working camera and microphone, and the free Zoom app installed. A stable internet connection is required. Mobile phones are not recommended as the screen size makes it difficult to follow along with the materials.
Each enrolled student receives a unique, personal Zoom join link that is registered to them specifically. Sessions use a Waiting Room — no one enters without host approval. Sessions are also limited to registered participants only, so no uninvited guests can join.
We understand that schedules can be unpredictable. If your student misses a session, course materials for that week will still be available. Please reach out to us directly at c.wikfors@atravelingteacher.com and we will do our best to accommodate on a case by case basis. We do not offer makeup sessions as a standard policy for group classes.
A full refund is available if your cancellation request is submitted at least 7 days before the first scheduled session. Cancellations submitted fewer than 7 days before the course start date are not eligible for a refund. Once a course has begun, refunds are not available for unused sessions.
